MEDICARE SAVINGS PROGRAM

If you qualify, your resident state will pay for your monthly Medicare Part B premium.

This means you will receive your $104.90 back onto your Social Security check every month.This no-cost program has been set in place by our government to help those on Medicare who qualify. You must have Medicare Part A and Part B to be eligible.

LOW-INCOME SUBSIDY PROGRAM

Extra Help is available to help you lower your prescription drugs costs and to help you avoid the “donut hole.”

Extra Help/LIS helps save an average of $4,000 a year. This no-cost program has been set in place by our government to help those on Medicare who qualify. Medicare Part D is required for the Extra Help/LIS program.

Do you qualify?

  • If single, is your monthly income less than $1,459 and are your assets* under $13,440?
  • If married, is your combined monthly income less than $1,966 and are your assets* under $26,860?
  • If you can answer yes, then you qualify for one or more of the programs.
  • If you are on both Medicare and Medicaid, then you could qualify as well. (*assets exclude one house and your vehicle)

    Insurance for those about to turn 65

    You are eligible for Medicare Parts A and B. You may want to consider one of the following plans:

  • Medicare “C” – Medicare Advantage Plan which includes Medicare Part D PDP (prescription drug plan)
  • HMO with PDP – Available in certain counties in the DFW area
  • PPO with PDP – Available in all counties in Texas as a special need plan
  • Medicare and Medicaid DUAL Plans
  • Stand-Along PDP
  • Medicare Supplement (or GAP) + PDP
  • You are eligible for Medicare Parts A and B. You can sign up during the “annual enrollment period” of October 15 to December 7 or during a special enrollment (SEP) if you qualify.
